How deeply are you able to read a pose — and respond to what it needs? 

Manual adjustments are one of the most invaluable tools BKS Iyengar left us — and one of the most consequential to develop skillfully. An ineffective adjustment can create confusion or incorrect understanding; at its worst, it can cause injury. Learning to adjust well requires refined observation, discernment in knowing what is needed, and sensitivity in knowing how much — alongside a clear understanding of the actions of the poses, the intelligent use of props, and how to position oneself relative to the student.

Whether through skilled hands or the intelligent use of props and set-ups, touch and contact offer a directional path toward better alignment and a more precise calibration of the actions within the asana. The more we develop this skill, the deeper our own practice becomes.

This three-day mini-immersion in Florence works through a selection of asanas from the Level I–III syllabus, with dedicated focus on developing these essential skills through practice, experience, and direct feedback from David Meloni. Whether you come as a teacher seeking to deepen your effectiveness or as a serious student seeking to connect more fully into your practice — or both — this immersion offers the understanding and precision needed to honor and carry forward the depth of Guruji’s parampara.

FORMAT: In-person event only. (Course will NOT be recorded.)

ENROLLMENT & PAYMENT PROCESS:

• STEP 1: PAYMENT FOR PRE-REGISTRATION FEE - Begin registration process by clicking on the blue buttons seen at the top and bottom of this page, “Begin Registration Process Here” to pre-registration fee and receive enrollment paperwork.

• STEP 2: SUBMIT ENROLLMENT PAPERWORK - Filled out in a timely manner; correctly and completely. Please email a copy of the completed paperwork to studentsupport@davidmeloniyoga.com.

• STEP 3: TUITION PAYMENT FOR MINI-IMMERSION - Upon payment of above pre-registration fee student will receive instructions and enrollment paperwork. After enrollment paperwork is approved and confirmed, final tuition payment is to be paid within 2 business days of to “Iyengar Yoga Rahasya Institute Firenze”.

• RECOMMENDATION: allow 2 - 3 weeks to complete the entire process. Final tuition amount is determined by when it is paid (before or after the Early Bird period); not by when the pre-registration was initiated.

PRE-REQUISITES:

• Minimum 5 years of Iyengar Yoga practice.

• Can do a 10 minute free - standing Salamba Sirsasana I in the middle of the room.

• Can do a 10 minute free - standing Salamba Sarvangasana I.

• Can push up into Urdhva Dhanurasana directly from the floor.

• No therapeutics. Students have to be able to manage their own physical issues.

• Mini - Immersions are not suitable for beginners. 

ENROLLMENT PROCESS: Enrollment is based on a first come first serve basis, as well as, priority will be given to experienced practitioners.

PROPS: In consideration of students that will be traveling (from near and far) to attend props will be supplied in full on-site.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

• Enrollment paperwork, Pre-registration and Workshop Fees are to be paid in full before student is fully enrolled and space is confirmed.

• Workshop includes teaching instruction only. Travel, accommodation, food, etc. is to be arranged by the student.

No refunds:

• In the event circumstances are out of the control of the organizer and the in person mini-immersion needs to be cancelled, registration fee will be returned minus a $50 (USD) non-refundable processing fee.
