3-Day In-Person Mini-Immersion

"Pillars of Practice: Action • Integration • Transformation"

BKS Iyengar embodied practice.

At the heart of what he taught, Guruji encourage us to explore in our practice and through our practice to develop the awareness to realize Yoga.  However, how we practice and the quality of practice determines its effectiveness and whether we can be touched by the transformative characteristics inherent in Yoga itself.

Be prepared to be physically and mentally immersed through David Meloni’s accessible approach through hands-on adjustments during Asana and Pranayama as he transmits the essence of Guruji, BKS Iyengar’s, teachings.

Join us this February in Florence for a 3-day in-person only mini-immersion to further unlock your path of profound and dedicated practice.

“David's teaching is superb - his knowledge and understanding, his deep concentration and focus, his attention and care for his students, and his profound love for Iyengar Yoga and its tradition all make his lessons and workshops extraordinarily valuable.

David is a teacher in the truest sense of the word. His teaching comes not from a place of power or ego, but from a place of authority grounded in many years of dedicated practice and study.

One of the incredibly important effects of this, I found, was that I could simply surrender to David's authority and let go of the grip on my ego ... in this way real learning takes place. A truly wonderful experience!”

Skill in Action Series: Embodiment of the Upper Limbs

Skill in Action Series: Embodiment of the Upper Limbs

“Embodiment of the Upper Limbs”

Skill in Action • Spring 2024 Series

As Iyengar Yoga practitioners we understand the importance of the actions.  Guruji is famously known for saying.

“The world is filled with movement. What we need is action - movement with intelligence.”

So what of the upper limbs then? In this “Skill in Action • First Sunday Series” experience the essential component the upper limbs have in all the poses - which is sometimes the foundation of the poses, in part and whole. Consider Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose and arm balances). When the actions of the upper limbs are incorporated the interconnectedness of the pose is enhanced in every way. The poses are experienced in with more ease and less effort. In short cultivating lightness in Yoga.

David Meloni will teach the specific actions in the hands, wrists, arms, elbows, and shoulders and how they feed into the vitality of the poses. Ground yourself by cultivating a better understanding of Guruji’s teachings as transmitted by David’s clear, effectively practical manner of teaching.

We look forward to seeing you in this once a month series on Sundays to hone and sharpen your the skills of your practice . Utilize the recordings (with unlimited access) to support your practice and study. And for those who are teachers, your teaching as well.

WHEN: First Sundays every month from 3:00 - 5:30 PM CEST (Italy)

The Possibilities & Potential of Props: Tressler Workshop

The Possibilities & Potential of Props: Tressler Workshop

The Possibilities & Potential with Props

✨ THE TRESSLER ✨

4 Total Sessions in 2 Days

• Asana & Pranayama •

Saturday, June 15th & 16th

2 - Sessions Daily From 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM & 4:30 - 6:00 PM CEST (Italy)

Join us to focus on working with Tressler in 4-sessions that blend asana and pranayama to literally support and refine your practice to deeper level.

Early on, when Guruji adjusted people, he was a “living” prop for students. He would use his body to support them or give a sense of awareness to the dull parts of their body. Then, to be able to provide “support” to many students at one time, he invented (and utilized) props in the form of bricks, belts, blankets, backless chairs, backsbenders, tresslers, rope wall, etc.

In this special 2-day workshop we will focus on using the Tressler (affectionately referred to as the horse) to reshape and repattern our practice.

When we practice with tangible props, we can better reach the possibilities and potential of our practice.  The effectiveness also depends greatly on how the set up is placed, used, AND how we understand and apply the actions.

  • Build strength. Tressler supports in a way that requires less physical energy to sustain the poses.  By increasing duration of the poses we begin to receive its benefits.

  • Awake Awareness. The unique shape of the Tressler can be utilized in various ways to help increase awareness in a particular anatomical area that lacks sensitivity - an area that resides in darkness.

  • Deepen and receive actions of the Asanas.   The Tressler readily creates the framework of the poses.  From there, we can easily tap into the actions of the poses to better experience the potency of the actions.  As Guruji taught us in so many ways, the actions are the way in to experience the deeper layers of Yoga.

By expanding and deepening our understanding on the use of the Tressler our sensitivity and discernment increase.  The skill of the practitioner to access the “actions” deepens. In that case, the actions become the access points where it transforms the poses and brings about a deeper experience towards asana.

Join us to practice on and with the Tressler in 4-sessions that blend asana and pranayama to support and enhance your practice to another level.

Be prepared to be physically and mentally immersed in your practice through David Meloni’s skillful sequencing, accessible approach to Asana and Yoga as he transmits the essence of Guruji, BKS Iyengar’s, teachings.
