Skill in Action Series: Embodiment of the Upper Limbs

“Embodiment of the Upper Limbs”

Skill in Action • Spring 2024 Series

As Iyengar Yoga practitioners we understand the importance of the actions.  Guruji is famously known for saying.

“The world is filled with movement. What we need is action - movement with intelligence.”

So what of the upper limbs then? In this “Skill in Action • First Sunday Series” experience the essential component the upper limbs have in all the poses - which is sometimes the foundation of the poses, in part and whole. Consider Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose and arm balances). When the actions of the upper limbs are incorporated the interconnectedness of the pose is enhanced in every way. The poses are experienced in with more ease and less effort. In short cultivating lightness in Yoga.

David Meloni will teach the specific actions in the hands, wrists, arms, elbows, and shoulders and how they feed into the vitality of the poses. Ground yourself by cultivating a better understanding of Guruji’s teachings as transmitted by David’s clear, effectively practical manner of teaching.
